In 1943 Ray Emerick, Sr. and his wife, Emilia, used their single truck to start the Mayfield Transfer Company. By offering their customers’ superior service and reasonable prices, the Mayfield’s business grew steadily. In order to keep pace with their customers’ expansions, the Emerick’s adopted a philosophy of excellence to assure that Mayfield Transfer's services and territories grew in proportion to their customers needs.

Following this philosophy, Mayfield Transfer has expanded its fleet to over 250 units many equipped with refrigerators covering 12 states. Four terminals service the Midwest; the main terminal is located in Melrose Park, IL with supporting terminals in Milwaukee, WI, Roseville, MN and Urbana, IL.

Historically, Mayfield Transfer specialized in the distribution of confection and home/health care products requiring overnight delivery. However, it was not long before the Emerick’s realized that some their national clients would benefit from warehousing their products locally. The need to provide a quick, cost effective, just in time delivery system prompted the Emerick’s to offer warehousing services though their partners New Horizon Warehouse and Ray Emerick Warehouse.

Today, the Emerick’s still cater to their customers needs, providing exceptional transportation services for a large variety of products throughout the contiguous United States and Canada with the help of their partners Sunshine Logistics. Mayfield Transfer continues to grow, offering customers a full service logistic solution to their transportation and warehousing needs.
